Mentors

Being a Mentor is an opportunity for you to share your experience, knowledge and skills with a new-to-Curtin student.

Mentoring essentially means that senior students act as a guide and advisor to new students in the same course (or in a similar or related course) during their initial period of adjustment to university. The general idea is to assist new students to successfully transition into University to become:

  • Independent learners in a new environment

  • To enable student success and an improved student experience

  • Better student persistence rates

  • To link new students to appropriate sources of support in a timely way

Mentors are not expected to be a teacher, proofread assignments, solve all problems, or be on call.
